About Marta

Somatic movement practitioner, dancer and mover. I am from Italy, based in Tuscany. In childhood my movement education started from sport, went across somatics (a Feldenkrais Method training) to finally land into dance. Through Contact Improvisation, Feldenkrais, movement research and exploration I like to create inclusive spaces to develop a curiosity for learning, which can nurture the inner landscape of perception into action; I work across weekly classes in Pisa, workshops, and retreats in Italy and abroad. In the last years I was teaching in Poland, Spain, France, Brasil, Greece. I co-organise two annual Contact Improvisation : “Infinite Small Dances” in Bologna with Nica Portavia and “Sicily Contact Improvisation Retreat” near Catania with Jesús Alonso and Marta Wresinska.

Intensive with Marta: From Within

My research interest in Contact Improvisation focuses on exploring the resilience and regenerative potential of movement through curiosity, imagination, and embodied somatic as well as very physical practices. As a certified Feldenkrais Method practitioner my approach is deeply rooted in somatic principles. Through attentive listening, sensory awareness, and the activation of perceptual systems, I investigate how movement emerges from an ongoing dialogue between the inner world and the external environment. I approach each one dance as a space of inquiry where perception, sensation, and relationality become sources of knowledge and creative expression. Within Contact Improvisation, I explore how the body can cultivate adaptability, responsiveness, and presence. I consider physical interaction, weight sharing, touch, and spatial awareness as ways to support processes of deep connection, both individually and collectively. The proposal for the workshop is to explore solo into Contact Improvisation: through bodywork/feldenkrais hands-on and individual practices, letting the solo research emerge and cultivate it when meeting the other and starting to share the dance.
